A Horror Movie Calendar

Price: (as of - Details) Horror movies love holidays.Take a spooky 365 day journey with award-winning critic Hal C. F. Astell of Apocalypse Later through 29 horror movies all set on holidays, avoiding many of the obvious ones because you already know them.Some you'll know, some you won't, some you won't want to know. But all of them will haunt you forever!The author trawls through the entire history of horror movies, spanning a time period from 1940's Black Friday to 2019's Hanukkah, a range in quality from The Wicker Man to, cough, Home Sweet Home and budgets from next to nothing on Presidents Day to, well, a little bit more on Trick 'r Treat. The scope trawls in Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and pagan holidays, not to forget entirely commercial ones that care only that you buy the right greeting cards, in films not only from the US, UK and Canada, but Israel and Singapore too.Thrill to the sights of zombie presidents, gay necrophiles, hungry ghosts, multiple dead porn stars, alien invasion in a London council estate and prankster mimes with guitars! You'll recognise many stars—Barbi Benton, Bruce Campbell, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lambert, Christopher Lee, Anna Paquin, Jenna Jameson, Danny Trejo, John Boyega, Sid Haig, Jamie Lee Curtis and well, David Copperfield—but you may not know them from these roles. Maybe you should!Films reviewed include the following:Life Blood (2009) for New Year's DayHospital Massacre (1981) for Valentine's DayPresidents Day (2016) for Presidents DayCandyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) for Mardi GrasManiac Cop (1988) for St. Patrick's DaySlaughter High (1986) for April Fools' DayResurrection (1999) for Easter Sunday4/20 Massacre (2018) for 4/20Ritual of Evil (1970) for WalpurgisnachtThe Wicker Man (1973) for BeltaneCinco de Mayo (2013) for Cinco de MayoMother's Day (1980) for Mother's DayMemorial Valley Massacre (1989) for Memorial DayFather's Day (2011) for Father's DaySolstice (2008) for Summer SolsticeUncle Sam (1996) for Independence DayThe Maid (2005) for Ghost MonthBlack Friday (1940) for Friday the 13thJeruzalem (2015) for Yom KippurMischief Night (2013) for Mischief NightTrick 'r Treat (2007) for Hallowe'enEvil Breed: The Legend of Samhain (2003) for SamhainAll Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos (2005) for Día de MuertosAttack the Block (2011) for Guy Fawkes NightHome Sweet Home (1981) for ThanksgivingHanukkah (2019) for HanukkahP2 (2007) for Christmas EveChristmas Evil (1980) for Christmas DayTerror Train (1980) for New Year's Eve Publisher ‏ : ‎ Apocalypse Later Press Publication date ‏ : ‎ September 12, 2022 Language ‏ : ‎ English Print length ‏ : ‎ 296 pages ISBN-10 ‏ : ‎ 0989461378 ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-0989461375 Item Weight ‏ : ‎ 15.8 ounces Dimensions ‏ : ‎ 5.5 x 0.67 x 8.5 inches Best Sellers Rank: #2,134,013 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #1,198 in Movie Guides & Reviews #4,339 in Movie History & Criticism #25,061 in Performing Arts (Books) Customer Reviews: 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars (1) var dpAcrHasRegisteredArcLinkClickAction; P.when('A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if (dpAcrHasRegisteredArcLinkClickAction !== true) { dpAcrHasRegisteredArcLinkClickAction = true; A.declarative( 'acrLink-click-metrics', 'click', { "allowLinkDefault": true }, function (event) { if (window.ue) { ue.count("acrLinkClickCount", (ue.count("acrLinkClickCount") || 0) + 1); } } ); } }); P.when('A', 'cf').execute(function(A) { A.declarative('acrStarsLink-click-metrics', 'click', { "allowLinkDefault" : true }, function(event){ if(window.ue) { ue.count("acrStarsLinkWithPopoverClickCount", (ue.count("acrStarsLinkWithPopoverClickCount") || 0) + 1); } }); });
